Treatment for improved skin structure – PRP therapy

Autologous blood therapy in Berlin

A new minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin and strengthen hair growth has quickly gained enthusiasm among various Hollywood stars. We also offer the trend treatment in our practice in Berlin. It bears the designation PRP therapy but is also known as vampire lifting or autologous blood treatment, as the body’s own specially prepared blood concentrate is used in the treatment. Since the therapy is based on the patient’s own body, it is an “autologous” cell therapy. What options does PRP therapy offer for skin and hair? You can find out the details of the treatment here.

What happens during PRP therapy?

After a detailed consultation with the expert, a small amount of blood is first taken from the patient. The autologous blood is specially prepared in certain reagents. To do this, it is placed in a patented gel and centrifuged. Centrifugation causes red blood cells (erythrocytes) and platelets (thrombocytes) to separate from each other. Platelets, which have numerous growth factors, are required for the treatment. These growth factors stimulate cell formation.

After preparation, the concentrate can be used in various ways. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is often injected into the treatment area using a thin cannula. However, it is also possible to combine the concentrate with a microneedling to the skin, for example. The doctor and patient discuss the appropriate procedure in a personal consultation.

Where can a rejuvenating effect be achieved?

In principle, PRP therapy can be used on any part of the body. In particular, annoying wrinkles in the face and décolleté area or on the hands can be reduced in a natural way. PRP therapy also has a positive effect on the complexion , making it appear healthier and more radiant.

PRP therapy is not only suitable for smoothing wrinkles and improving the complexion. It can also be used to reduce scars. Another major area of application for autologous blood therapy is strengthening the hair roots to counteract thinning hair. The growth factors in the concentrate act directly on the hair follicles, making them stronger and stimulating growth. During treatment, the PRP concentrate is usually injected directly into the scalp.

What is special about PRP treatment?

PRP therapy is characterized above all by its very good tolerability. Since the body’s own substances are used to initiate natural rejuvenation and growth processes, no rejection reactions or intolerances are to be expected. People who are prone to allergies or who do not like “artificial” anti-ageing products in particular will find PRP treatment a very attractive solution for a younger and fresher appearance.

How many sessions are required?

Some time is needed to stimulate the natural processes. The positive effects of the growth factors and the formation of new collagen set in after a few weeks. At the beginning of the treatment, a kind of build-up phase is necessary to achieve optimum results. This usually involves three treatments. There are three to four weeks between each treatment.

After this build-up phase, it is advisable to repeat the PRP therapy about once or twice a year. The reason for this is that the collagen produced and the new cells are broken down again or age. The results of the treatment are therefore not permanent, but can be easily refreshed.

Hair loss treatments usually require more treatments to achieve the desired effect. There are usually six to nine treatment sessions.
