Regenerative skin therapy: PRP for beautiful, radiant skin

The skin is our largest sensory organ and comes into contact with a wide variety of influences on a daily basis. Both internal factors (e.g. natural ageing process, hormonal changes, stress) and external influences (e.g. UV radiation, environmental toxins) cause changes to the skin over time. For example, the body’s own production of firming structural proteins such as collagen and elastin slowly decreases between the ages of 20 and 30. This often manifests itself in sagging skin and wrinkles. Volume can also decrease and youthful contours can fade. The skin can also appear taut and sallow. Various minimally invasive methods are available to rejuvenate the appearance of the skin. One of these treatments is PRP therapy. We will be happy to tell you exactly what this means and how the treatment can improve the appearance of your skin.

PRP – the rejuvenating agent from your own blood

PRP is a special concentrate that is extracted from the patient’s own blood. Centrifugation is used to separate the individual blood components so that the blood plasma can be removed. Blood plasma contains numerous growth factors and proteins that support the body’s self-healing powers. The blood plasma is also enriched with a large number of thrombocytes (blood platelets). This is where the term PRP comes from, which stands for platelet-rich plasma. PRP therapy is therefore a very gentle and natural form of treatment. Thanks to the body’s own substances, it is hardly associated with side effects such as rejection reactions or allergies.

Is the treatment painful?

PRP treatment – also known as autologous blood treatment or vampire lifting – is carried out using thin cannulas. First, the specialist draws a small amount of blood and then prepares it specially. The removal is carried out in the same way as at the GP and is not usually painful. As the sensation of pain varies from person to person, the feeling of pressure or slight prick when the needle is inserted may be perceived as somewhat unpleasant, but pain is not to be expected. PRP injections are also carried out using a fine cannula that is barely noticeable. On request, the treatment areas can also be anesthetized to make the treatment even more comfortable for the patient.

What effects does PRP treatment achieve?

The aim of autologous blood treatment is to stimulate the body’s repair mechanisms. The plasma and blood platelets cause the body to produce more collagen – the important structural protein that is responsible for the firmness of the skin, among other things. In addition, the treatment areas are better supplied with blood and thus optimally supplied with oxygen and important nutrients. Fresh cells are also built up.

All of this has an extremely positive effect on the appearance of the skin, so that the treatment areas are gently tightened and firmed. The complexion is also refreshed and a harmonious glow often appears on the skin.

PRP treatment is therefore suitable for the following areas, among others:

  • Wrinkle smoothing
  • Skin improvement and rejuvenation
  • Slight lifting effect
  • Refinement of the pores
  • Refreshing the complexion
  • Improvement of scars and stretch marks
  • Treatment of sun damage such as pigment damage
  • Treatment of hair loss
  • PRP can be combined with other treatments

As PRP therapy is a very gentle form of treatment, there is the option of combining it with other treatments. The so-called microneedling in which fine needles are inserted into the skin to stimulate collagen production. This makes the skin very receptive, allowing precious active ingredients to be infiltrated. Together with PRP therapy, this can produce very natural and effective results for younger and firmer skin.

Depending on your wishes and findings, it is also possible to combine PRP therapy with, for example hyaluronic acid injection with Botox® with a laser treatment or with a chemical chemical peeling with a chemical peel. Radiofrequency needling with Secret™ PRO is also a very good combination. Find out more about this modern treatment method here .

PRP and the benefits for hair health

PRP is not only ideal for skin rejuvenation, but can also be used in the hair area to counteract thinning hair. The growth factors and proteins in PRP strengthen the hair roots and enable better blood flow to the area. This also improves the growth and strength of the hair. This regeneration contributes to healthy and strong hair.

PRP therapy for the treatment of hair loss can also be used in addition to surgical hair transplantation. It is included in the hair transplantation guidelines and is recommended to actively support and improve the results of the treatment.
