An even, firm and radiant complexion often symbolizes youthfulness and attractiveness. Skin care is an important aspect of supporting the health and beauty of the skin and maintaining it for a long time. After all, the skin is exposed to a wide variety of influences and stresses (e.g. UV radiation, heat, cold, chemical substances) on a daily basis. The natural ageing process also leads to changes in the skin sooner or later. Various surgical and non-surgical methods are available to reduce annoying wrinkles and regain lost firmness. One of the modern and innovative procedures that can tighten and rejuvenate the skin without surgery is Plasmage®. Find out more about this treatment option below.
Info on Plasmage® – what is it?
Plasmage® relies on plasma. Plasma is the fourth aggregate state alongside solid, liquid and gas and has long been used in ENT surgery to sterilize medical instruments. The discharge of electrical energy generates atmospheric plasma at the tip of the Plasmage® device and causes a reaction with the water in the upper layers of the skin. This vaporizes it and inflicts minimal micro-wounds on the skin, which heal quickly after the treatment. The tiny injuries stimulate the regeneration and healing processes in the skin, which tightens the skin in the long term.
Incidentally, no electricity flows through the body during the treatment. The electrical release only occurs at the device, which is located at a distance of around 0.5 millimeters from the skin and ensures that atmospheric plasma is formed.
The Plasmage® treatment takes about 40 minutes and takes place on an outpatient basis. The skin areas are locally anesthetized.
What are the advantages of Plasmage® treatment?
Plasmage® for eyelid lifting
Plasmage® treatment is ideal for tightening specific areas of the skin and reducing unwanted wrinkles. The method is also ideal for tightening the eyelids. The fine eyelid skin is often affected prematurely and can therefore sag. Plasmage® can be used to gently counteract these changes without scarring.
However, it should be noted that Plasmage® cannot achieve the desired results for severe drooping eyelids. In most cases, surgery is still necessary to remove the sagging excess skin on the eyelid.
What aftercare is important?
Shortly after treatment, a slight scab forms on the treatment areas, which heals on its own within about three to five days. It is important not to remove these scabs by hand or by force, as this can lead to infection and inflammation. The healing process can be supported with ointments. You should refrain from applying make-up until the small micro-wounds have completely healed. Sunbathing and tanning beds should also be avoided (for about eight weeks). To protect sensitive areas, you should apply a sunscreen with SPF 50. Sport is possible again after the fine wounds have healed (about five to seven days).
Does Plasmage® have side effects or risks?
Plasmage® is considered to be extremely low-risk. The sterilizing properties of the method help to speed up the healing process and kill potential germs and bacteria. Nevertheless, minor side effects cannot be ruled out. In addition to the formation of scabs, temporary redness, minor swelling and a downtime of up to a week are also possible. Complications such as infections occur very rarely.
