One of the most popular active ingredients in aesthetic medicine is hyaluronic acid. As a substance produced naturally in the body, treatment with hyaluronic acid is very well tolerated and is considered particularly low-risk – provided it is carried out by an experienced expert. Hyaluronic acid can be used for various indications. In addition to wrinkle treatment, harmonious contouring and accentuation is a major area of application. What is possible with hyaluronic acid? And how long do the results last?
Volume loss on the cheeks
A common disruptive factor that becomes noticeable over time and with the advancing ageing process is reduced volume. The lost volume can cause the cheeks to collapse and lose their youthful contours. In addition, the areas often lose elasticity, as firming components such as hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin decrease more and more. This can also lead to the formation of so-called sagging cheeks.
With targeted hyaluronic acid injections, it is possible to rebuild the cheeks and achieve high, defined cheekbones. This gives the face more freshness and youthfulness. How the contours are to be set in detail is decided individually, as it depends on the respective facial features.
Unwelcome sagging cheeks can also be concealed to a certain extent with hyaluronic acid treatment. However, it should be noted that the sagging areas cannot be adequately tightened or removed in this way. This requires other methods, which the doctor will be happy to discuss with you in a personal consultation.
Jawline and chin correction with hyaluronic acid
The chin and jawline (jawline) are also responsible for the youthful appearance of the face. A V-shape of the face is assumed to be ideal. As the skin ages naturally, these areas also slacken and begin to sag. The contours of the Jawline are receding more and more. Hyaluronic acid can be used on the jawline to counteract this process. The plumping effect of the fabric tightens and harmoniously contours the areas. The appearance of the chin can also be changed slightly. In particular, a chin that is perceived as too small can be built up or filled in with the use of hyaluronic acid.
Small corrections with hyaluronic acid are also possible on the nose. Targeted injections can correct an unpleasant nose shape to a certain extent without the need for rhinoplasty surgery. This can also have a positive effect on the overall profile. Dr. Kors will be happy to explain the possibilities and limitations to you.
Which wrinkles does hyaluronic acid help with?
Hyaluronic acid is a popular volumizing agent as it has a strong lifting effect due to its good fluid binding properties. This is also used in the treatment of gravity-induced and deep wrinkles. One of the best-known wrinkles is the nasolabial fold (between the wing of the nose and the corner of the mouth). Due to the decrease in firming proteins, the loss of elasticity and the effects of gravity, this wrinkle intensifies and deepens over time. When correcting the nasolabial fold, hyaluronic acid is injected into the corresponding area. The active ingredient virtually plumps up the wrinkle from the inside out and smoothes the area. Other deep wrinkles can also be treated in this way.
Does hyaluronic acid have risks?
Hyaluronic acid is considered to be extremely low-risk. The treatment uses a synthetically produced hyaluronic acid that is very similar to the hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in the body. This means that the body knows how to deal with the substance. Allergic reactions or rejections do not usually occur. A very fine cannula is also used for the treatment, which does not cause any major damage to the skin and hardly strains it. The area can also be anesthetized to make the skin less sensitive to pain and the treatment even more pleasant.
Despite the low risks, you should only consult a licensed physician and experienced specialist in aesthetic treatments. In order for hyaluronic acid treatment to be as low-risk, painless and gentle as it is often promised, appropriate qualifications, experience and anatomical knowledge are essential. In the worst case, incorrect use of hyaluronic acid can lead to tissue nodules, functional limitations or other serious health consequences such as tissue death and blindness.
Dr. Kors has been working in the field of aesthetic treatments for more than 20 years and also trains other colleagues in this field. He will be happy to provide you with comprehensive information on the details of the hyaluronic acid treatment.
How long do the results of a hyaluronic acid treatment last?
Hyaluronic acid – both natural and that used in aesthetic treatments – does not remain in the body permanently. It is gradually being dismantled. As a result, the effects of the hyaluronic acid treatment also wear off after a certain period of time. How long the results achieved are maintained depends on various factors. For example, the type of hyaluronic acid, the area, the quantity and the individual lifestyle all play a role. On average, hyaluronic acid is effective for at least six months. With some applications, the results can be visible for up to two years.
If you want a lasting result, treatment with hyaluronic acid can be repeated at regular intervals to refresh and maintain the positive effects.
