Bladder weakness in young women and how it can be treated

Bladder weakness is the colloquial term for incontinence. It can vary in severity and there are also different forms of incontinence. One of the most common types is stress incontinence. This results in the involuntary loss of urine when there is an increase in pressure in the abdominal cavity. This can be the case, for example, when sneezing, coughing, climbing stairs or laughing.

The cause is an insufficiency of the sphincter apparatus. This is usually due to a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles. One of the modern and, above all, gentle options for bladder weakness is treatment with BTL Emsella®. In the following article, you can find out exactly what this means and what other positive effects this uncomplicated treatment has.

Stress and stress incontinence – not just age-related

Urinary incontinence is often associated with old age. In fact, muscles often lose strength as we get older – including the pelvic floor muscles. This makes the body more susceptible to dysfunction, which also increases the risk of bladder weakness. However, stress incontinence is not just a problem that occurs in old age. Instead, young women can also be affected.

Possible causes are a congenital weakness of the connective tissue as well as pregnancy and childbirth. During natural childbirth, the pelvic floor is stretched considerably. This can cause the muscles to slacken, which in turn can lead to bladder weakness. In addition, operations (e.g. on the uterus) can also affect the pelvic floor muscles and promote stress incontinence. Obesity is another possible risk factor. The excess body weight increases the pressure in the abdomen and on the bladder, which can lead to incontinence.

What can I do myself if I have bladder weakness?

To actively counteract bladder weakness, the main focus is on strengthening the pelvic floor muscles. The muscles can be strengthened with certain exercises, which can improve the functioning of the sphincter apparatus. It can also help to reduce excess body weight and thus lower the pressure. In some cases, medicinal approaches can also be integrated into the therapy.

BTL Emsella® – the gentle help against incontinence

BTL Emsella® is an innovative treatment option for weakened pelvic floor muscles. This is a special chair that generates a strong and focused electromagnetic field (HIFEM™ technology). This field ensures that the muscles of the pelvic floor contract intensively (contract) and then relax again.

In principle, this is pelvic floor training, which is also carried out with exercises at home, but at a much higher and more efficient intensity. In a short time, the BTL Emsella® achieves a workout that cannot be achieved with conventional methods. The targeted stimulation of the pelvic floor tightens and strengthens the tissue and muscles.

What happens during treatment?

The treatment is extremely simple: the patient sits on the BTL Emsella® chair dressed and relaxes. The chair does the rest and trains the muscles. Patients only notice a faint vibration or a slight tingling sensation from the application. The treatment is completed after about 30 minutes and patients can leave the practice immediately. There are neither restrictions nor downtimes.

Since treatment with BTL Emsella® is a targeted workout, regular repetition is essential for training success, just as with other sports exercises. The first results are often noticeable after the first application. For optimum results, we recommend six sessions at short intervals (usually two sessions per week). To support the results achieved in the long term, it is advisable to repeat the treatment every few months after this build-up phase to refresh the effects. The intervals are determined individually.

Positive side effects of BTL Emsella®

BTL Emsella® not only helps with problems such as incontinence, the treatment generally increases intimate well-being. Strengthening the muscles can also have a positive effect on personal pleasure.

The special training also strengthens the inner core – i.e. the abdominal and back muscles. This can both optimize your own performance and actively counteract postural damage.

Are there any risks?

There are no known risks or side effects associated with treatment with BTL Emsella®. The procedure is extremely gentle and does not involve any foreign substances. During the treatment, only a tingling or vibration can be felt. Although this is perceived differently by each patient, it is not usually considered unpleasant. In some cases, you may feel sore muscles after the treatment.

Not just an issue for women – BTL Emsella® for men

Stress and stress incontinence often affects women. Nevertheless, BTL Emsella® treatment can also be suitable for men. As already mentioned, strengthening the muscles has a very positive effect on the inner center, performance and endurance. This is why BTL Emsella® is a popular training supplement for professional athletes.
