Smooth and even skin that is free of annoying wrinkles and pigmentation marks is what many people want. Every skin type is individual and has its own characteristics. As the skin ages, changes such as sagging and wrinkles can also occur. If these are perceived as disturbing, there are various procedures available in aesthetic medicine to tighten the skin, refresh the complexion, achieve a natural glow and reduce perceived blemishes such as pigmentation marks, stretch marks, scars and wrinkles.
One of the modern procedures is radiofrequency microneedling (RF microneedling). In our skin center, we carry out the treatment with Secret™ PRO from Cutera. In addition to RF needling, Secret™ PRO also enables CO2 laser treatment. This combination achieves gentle and natural skin rejuvenation as well as a significant improvement in the skin’s appearance (skin resurfacing).
Radiofrequency microneedling (RF microneedling) combines two established procedures in aesthetic medicine. They complement each other perfectly and thus intensify the treatment effects that can be achieved.
Microneedling is a gentle procedure that works with numerous small needles. These needles are located on the head of a pen-like device and are repeatedly inserted into the skin during treatment. The depth of penetration can be individually set and adjusted by a specialist during professional microneedling.
The tiny needles cause micro-injuries in the tissue, which in turn trigger the skin’s own healing and repair processes. As a result, the body produces more collagen, an important component for firm and elastic skin. The skin is rejuvenated and refreshed from the inside out.
With RF microneedling, as in the case of Secret™ PRO, the needles emit additional pulses. The radio frequency energy is absorbed by the tissue and converted into heat. The controlled and intense heat impulse also ensures that the body increases its collagen production. In addition, the connective tissue contracts and becomes firmer and tighter. The special needles are integrated directly into the device attachment and offer safe treatment.
In addition to radiofrequency microneedling, another applicator is available for treatment with Secret™ PRO. RF microneedling can therefore be supplemented by fractionated CO2 laser treatment. The laser pulses create tiny “holes” in the tissue. The cells are gently removed from these areas, while undamaged tissue remains between these points. This results in an immediate tightening effect.
In addition, the body reacts with repair and healing processes. It increases the formation of firming proteins that refine the skin’s appearance. The healing process is accelerated by the intact tissue bridges between the treatment points. Due to the fractionated working method, larger areas can be treated. Nevertheless, the body is hardly strained and the risks are low.

Radiofrequency microneedling and CO2 laser treatment can be carried out not only on the face, but also on the neck, décolleté, hands, stomach, thighs and all other areas of the body that have unwanted changes.
At the beginning of the treatment, the areas are cleaned and disinfected. An anesthetic cream ensures that the areas are less sensitive to pain, making the treatment even more pleasant for you. There is hardly any pain to be expected during RF microneedling and CO2 laser treatment with Secret™ PRO. There is only a feeling of warmth, which experience has shown to be well tolerated.
The handpiece of the Secret™ PRO is then guided over the skin areas to be treated. The needles are repeatedly inserted into the tissue, where they release the radio frequency energy. If an additional CO2 laser treatment is required, another handpiece is used to send the laser pulses into the tissue. A treatment takes between 30 and 60 minutes in total. The duration of treatment depends on whether radiofrequency microneedling alone or a combination with CO2 laser treatment is desired. The size of the skin area also influences the treatment time required.
After a short recovery period in our practice rooms, you can leave the Weißensee Skin Center and return to your normal daily routine. Longer downtimes are not to be expected after RF microneedling with Secret™ PRO. They are usually fully socially acceptable again immediately or after a few days.
Immediately after the treatment, your skin will probably feel warm and reddened. A slight burning or tingling sensation is also possible. This usually subsides within a few hours. Redness that persists the following day can be covered with make-up if desired.
It is important that you use sun protection after the treatment. It is best to avoid spending time directly in the sun and apply sun cream with a high sun protection factor (50+).
The number of treatments required varies depending on the type of treatment, the size of the area, the type and intensity of the skin damage and the desired result. On average, one to four treatments are recommended. For optimum treatment results with radiofrequency microneedling with CO2 laser treatment, we usually recommend three to four treatment sessions to our patients. The individual sessions take place four to six weeks apart so that the skin can calm down and regenerate in the meantime.
Most patients report visible effects of treatment with Secret™ PRO after the second application. The improvement in the skin’s appearance and tightening of the skin occurs gradually, as it is primarily caused by the body’s own processes. Although the collagen build-up takes some time, it also has a long-lasting rejuvenating effect. The final results are visible after about three to four months.
The duration of effect of RF microneedling and CO2 laser treatment varies from person to person. On average, they are around six to twelve months. In some cases, the effects can be visible for up to 18 months.
Secret™ PRO offers a gentle form of treatment that puts hardly any strain on the body. The application can therefore be repeated as often as desired. For younger skin with few wrinkles or sagging, it is advisable to repeat the treatment about once a year to maintain the treatment results. For older and sun-damaged skin, however, it is advisable to carry out the treatment every six months to refresh the effects and support a beautiful complexion.
Radiofrequency microneedling is considered a gentle and low-risk treatment method in the anti-ageing field. It only causes minimal injuries, which serve to set the natural repair mechanisms in motion. Possible side effects and discomfort after treatment with Secret™ PRO include temporary redness, slight swelling, tingling or a slight burning sensation. Sensory disturbances and inflammation rarely occur. The risk of pigmentation disorders can be reduced to a minimum by taking appropriate sun protection measures.
